Damn, those boys were packin'. Is it your opinion that the insurgency can be defeated militarily? It seems as though (especially with the continued introduction of foreign fighters) there's an endless supply of people willing to take a bullet for Anti-Americanism.

Interestingly, it is only in the US and amongst the Euroweenies that one encounters doubt on that score.
Most of the more informed Iraqis consider it a foregone conclusion that if we stay the course, we'll kick the insurgents' tails - it is simply a matter of attrition and superior arms and resources.
And perhaps more importantly, as in Vietnam, a matter of will. Unfortunately, there we have idiots like Ted Kennedy and Bob Herbert to contend with. As long as the Moral Equivalence Brigade are actively fighting for the other side, it will be a challenge to overcome the constant stream of negativity.
Every time we have seriously engaged the enemy, we have kicked butt. Every time the press has covered one of these engagements, they have managed to pluck miserable failure from the jaws of overwhelming victory.
What a sad comment on freedom of the press.
