Taking hygiene too far

If you visit Texas, don't forget to wash your hands.

While that may sound stupid or unusual, I've seen fights started over even more stupid stuff here in Texas.

One that comes to mind was a dispute over who had set an empty beer can on the hood of a pickup.

Took three policemen, one sheriffs deputy and the bar owner to stop the fight and put about six drunks in jail.

But, all in all not that unusual for a Saturday night.

I live in Fort Worth. I used to know a man from Brooklyn who couldn't figure out why he kept getting beat up in bars. It was his mouth, but he never could get it. Here's some visitor information: This is still a violent place in spots, and it's important to watch what you say to people.

Yankees are some of the rudest bastards I've ever met, as a rule. I have despised every New Yorker I've ever met except one interesting Italian fellow named Joe from the Bronx, in Army CI. He was a really nice guy, and quite funny.

Piece of advice: "Common courtesy" is the rule in Texas. We are usually even civil with our enemies. If you show up running your mouth like you do back home, you're gonna get the shit kicked out of repeatedly, and we're not going to feel bad about it. The law won't even be on your side because "I was deliberately provoked by such and such" is in fact a legal defense and, if I remember right, actually uses the term "fighting words."

We freakin' hate New Yorkers, and that's why. They're rude assholes, and it makes us feel better to hurt them.

We don't all share Dawnfire's sentiments. I like Yankees so much that I married one.
