Rosa al-Parks

In the category of girls just wanting to have fun, a Saudi woman is arrested after driving a car 250 km.

The 25-year-old was arrested in the city, but only after having driven 250 kilometers of highway from her farm to the south. Bystanders told the newspaper that they were amazed that the rebellious woman had made it that far. The brother of the woman said she had stolen her father’s car when he wasn’t looking. He said she had psychological issues.

Yeah. She wants to be a human being.

The use of "psychological issues" as an excuse is common in Saudi Arabia. About a year ago, a young male prankster ran naked through a school for girls in Saudi Arabia. According to his family, he had "psychological issues." The same excuse was given to free a housewife after her arrest for driving almost 100 miles an hour on a highway in the country.

Saudi Arabia has some tough, headstrong women. All-female brawls erupt in the country.

In one recent conflict, more than 25 women ended up in a bloody free-for-all during an argument at a park. The women fought with clubs, shoes, and teacups. Three injured women went to the hospital.

In another confrontation, two groups of female picnickers argued about clothes and cosmetics. The dispute deteriorated into wrestling matches.

DEC refers to Saudi Arabia by noting "All-female brawls erupt in the country" but I for one can't get enthused over the idea of a cat-fight by women in burkhas. Skimpy bikinis or clothing shredded in near-artistic fashion are key elements in making such battles truly compelling.

Locker - yeah, but if you lived in Saudi you'd take what you could get. Hell, so would I. I'd buy your ticket just to hear your comments.
