Bill Clinton: At home abroad

Hillary Clinton has announced that if elected president her husband -- Bill'42 -- would become a "roaming ambassador to the world."

"I can't think of a better cheerleader for America than Bill Clinton, can you?" the Democratic senator from New York asked a crowd jammed into a junior high school gymnasium. "He has said he would do anything I asked him to do. I would put him to work."

Smart move. She has simultaneous capitalized on and diffused the idea that Bill would shadow Hillary's presidency. On the one hand, he'll be part of the team. On the other hand, he'll be "roaming" the world.

Whether or not "trolling" would be a more accurate verb, Bill's prospective job seems to meet the needs of the husband, the wife, the Democratic primary voter, and the general election voter.

If Hillie got elected and Willie roamed the world, can you imagine the satchels of free cash he'd pick up as "campaign contributions" for the 2012 elections?

I know you clowns hate the guy, but he's probably more popular at home, abroad, on the Klingon and Borg homeworlds, even in Narnia and
and the planet Lovetron than Dubya. Annoucing that she'd use him as a roaming ambassador overseas (and a cheerleader, smiling armtwister at home no doubt) is probably, as Tigerhawk surmises, the best thing Hillary's done thus far; Obama and "Brilcream" Edwards...hell even little Mitty, Crazy John McC (remember when he was a "moderate and maverick" and the Bushies were out to destroy him?), Sam Brownstain et al...have no such weapon in their arsenal. (Unless, like Cho Sueng-Hui, they get something like it on eBay).

CC - those nicknames are supposed to be humorous to people out of junior high?

If Hillary has already been co-president, how is it she gets to run? Shades of Eva Peron.

Maybe Laura Bush should run...

Hillary has some other challenges ... while people may actually find her husband engaging, they don't her. Plus, she's got a bit of a hurdle to overcome as a woman seeking the Oval Office. I'd put her chances about even with Obama, whose credentials are weak other than the fact that he's half-Black, which should pull a lot of the historical Democratic voters. I'm hoping they fight it out and split the vote, just for sport.

Bill will clearly raise a lot of money for her, starting in Asia ...

Would you please explain what the hell this means?

And I have to say for somebody who is middle-aged, appears exceedingly bourgeoisie in his photo, and is an attorney, Princeton-educated, and a published novelist, that was a remarkably puerile post. Saving your wit for your novels?

Not to mention preserving the intent of the 22nd Amendment too.

Mr.Chambers: I used wonder why "Slick Willie". Most of Slick's appeal was that of fine tuned snake oil salesman, and, as with such people, he won over the masses with his oily charm.

It must be hard to wake up in the morning knowing that you may well be responsible for the greatest increase in kids having oral sex "I did not have sex...".

What an export for America. How many parents must cringe when Slick comes near their daughters.

In the future Slick will get to export this philosophy.

I imagine Bill's roving will take him to Ipanema and the south of France on a regular basis.
