Huckabee apologizes for al Qaeda
Unfair? You be the judge:
With about 150 supporters crowded around a podium set up on the tarmac of Orlando Executive airport (and about 20 Ron Paul supporters waving signs outside) Mike Huckabee strode out to the strains of “Right Now” by Van Halen and immediately addressed the Bhutto situation, expressing “our sincere concern and apologies for what has happened in Pakistan.”
The world is in some sense divided between people who hold the United States -- by dint of some act or omission -- responsible for virtually all its troubles, and those who believe that the people responsible for bad things are those who actually do them. Many Europeans, virtually all journalists, some Democrats, Jimmy Carter, and the editors of the New York Times all fall into the former category. So, apparently, does Mike Huckabee.

Maybe he means "apologies" in the sense of "I'm sorry for your loss". I doubt he thinks we are to blame for this.

Well, perhaps the journalist misquoted him. However, an expression of sorrow for a loss is not an apology, it is a condolence.
Perhaps he was just inarticulate, although inarticulateness is not one of Huckabee's known failings.

I have never voted for a Democrat for President. But I will not support Huckabee. Period.

It is an odd view, isn't it?
The US is, in this perspective, some sort of evil deus ex machina descending on the world causing mischief. With the other actors simply following along with no independent action or thought.
It's almost as if, to switch metaphors, someone was watching a football game but only paying attention to the actions of one team. Or the actions solely of the quarterback.
Simply not the way the world/game works.

What's the word for the political version of a Freudian Slip?
Huck's campaign staff insists he meant "sympathy", and I'm sure he did -- but the way it slipped out, almost by habit, raises the above question.

Painful watching these clowns ... one of whom will run the most powerful planet, isn't it?
I'm holding out for the reasonably sane person who just calls it as MOST Americans see things - we have a true border issue, costing us nearly a trillion dollars a year across all forms of aid, bilingual education, medical, etc. Pretty easy to see how that could affect the deficit and other benefits that Americans should reap. As for the animals among us who commit heinous crime, unrest, etc. just call that what it is also. They're rats, who need to be killed. In that regard, they should just note that America's struggle to make peace where this type of act is common is one that will endure as long as humans walk this earth. We fight, or we surrender. So you lose the lefty vote, and the illegal vote, but if you carve out the social issues carefully, you still stand to be the person of choice for the vast portion of the electorate.
In 303M Americans ... where the F is that person?!
