Arctic sea ice: Still more than the last two years
Media bleating notwithstanding, it now appears unlikely that the summer melting of the Arctic sea ice will exceed the record set in 2007 or even, perhaps, 2008. If the trend continues, next year we will have more of the all-important "multi-year" ice.
Unless, of course, the powers that be move the goalposts again.

What really must fry AGW fans is the fact that increasing the amount of sea ice raises the sea level.

Mr. Ed, the quantity of sea ice has no effect on the sea level - just float an ice cube in a glass and see what happens to the level of the water as it melts. Melting sea ice does not, therefore, raise the sea level. That is why the alarmists focus on Greenland -- melting glaciers do raise the sea level, because they introduce new water to the system. But the biggest impact on sea level is the rising temperature of the ocean, which causes the water to expand (warmer water takes up more room than cool water).

Yes, TH you are right. Thanks for the correction. I checked the physics and agree. I once read on the BBC how the melting of the Arctic ice cap, due to global warming, would cause the sea level to rise. I over corrected.

If methane is indeed escaping, why doesn't someone devise a way to capture it, then set up shop there and send it back for us to use as fuel?
