Sunday afternoon video break

At the suggestion of a reader, "Land of Hope and Dreams." I've always loved this song and have it on my iPod. Perhaps Springsteen's most underplayed tune.

And you can learn a little Portuguese, too!

It's not played because it's almost 10 minutes long. Radios tend to avoid playing songs longer than 5 minutes so they can throw more commercials in.

Bruce & Band at their tent show revival best.

The "This Train" refrain has a pedigree:

Woody Guthrie's Bound for Glory
Played by Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis

This train is bound for glory, this train.
This train is bound for glory, this train.
This train is bound for glory,
Don't carry nothing but the righteous and the holy.
This train is bound for glory, this train.

Curtis Mayfield
Curtis Mayfield's People Get Ready :
People get ready, there's a train a comin'
You don't need no baggage, you just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'
Don't need no ticket, you just thank the Lord.

Bruce sometimes includes "People Get Ready" at the end of Land of Hope and Dreams.

Bob Marley has his own version of "This Train." So does roots legend Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

Like most Springsteen, the video would be enhanced by subtitled lyrics in English.
