Sarah Palin's breasts

Sarah Palin's breasts are suddenly the objects of great interest on the left, not because of their obvious appeal, but as an opportunity to accuse her of having enhanced them with implants. This controversy follows an earlier obsession with Sarah Palin's medical care, the election-year spat over whether she is indeed the mother of her son Trig or (alternatively) was reckless in flying back to Alaska to give birth to him.

I suppose I have two small observations.

First, does the left enhance -- and I use the word advisedly -- its appeal among the electorate by suggesting that we ought to ridicule women for getting breast implants? The boobery need no further reminder that the left disdains their sense of aesthetic, but if liberals want to beat them over the head with it, fine. This may, in the end, be Palin's greatest contribution to conservative political fortunes: She suckers the chattering left in to reminding everybody that they are, well, snots.

Second, we note that privacy in medical matters is the legal foundation of the Constitutional right to abortion, per Roe v. Wade. This right to privacy is apparently so sacred that (so says the left) it is reasonable to sacrifice fetuses to defend it. One would think that the left, therefore, would be reluctant to intrude on even Sarah Palin's medical privacy. Of course, that would require some measure of intellectual honesty, which is apparently beyond the capacity of many liberals when Sarah Palin is involved.

But, yes, the critical response is...who freakin' cares?!?

As for intellectual honesty, that would require the Left to have a brain.

Twice lately the GOP has gone the pretty goofy route in VP selection: Quayle and Palin. Both are OK intelligent, but the VP has to be as qualified to be president and I hope that is the last of that ... no more kid sidekicks.

Bush II got it right: Cheney, whatever you think of him, was very qualified to be president.

Sarah Palin just had a baby. Is it any wonder her breasts are large?

By Anonymous Edward Lunny, at Thu Jun 10, 12:59:00 PM:

" Sarah Palin just had a baby." I'm shocked, shocked I tell you , that, that woman had the unmitigated gall to bring a new life into this world ! The absolute audacity that a woman would choose to go through the "agony" of childbirth, why, what chutzpah !!
" Is it any wonder her breasts are large? " Maybe if the libs didn't make an industry of killing off their children they would notice these body changes. Perhaps if they didn't relagate their diet to bark and twigs they'd notice that their are natural changes to a womns body during and after pregnancy.

"President Edwards" is also a pretty scary phrase! Historically, VPs have tended to be mediocre. Bush I & Cheney seem more the exceptions than the rule.

By Blogger Kurt, at Thu Jun 10, 01:18:00 PM:

And to add to what drank said, "President Biden" is pretty scary, too, but I'm not sure it is quite as scary as President Obama has (unsurprisingly) turned out to be.

By Blogger K. Pablo, at Thu Jun 10, 01:55:00 PM:

Thank you for linking, via the word "boobery" a classic H.L. Mencken evisceration of a president whose similarity to Obama I would not otherwise have noted: Woodrow Wilson.

Of whom does this remind you: "he accomplished with a great deal more skill than they did themselves the great task of reducing all the difficulties of the hour to a few sonorous and unintelligible phrases, often with theological overtones--that he knew better than they did how to arrest and enchant the boobery with words that were simply words, and nothing else. The vulgar like and respect that sort of balderdash. A discourse packed with valid ideas, accurately expressed, is quite incomprehensible to them. What they want is the sough of vague and comforting words--words cast into phrases made familiar to them by the whooping of their customary political and ecclesiastical rabble-rousers, and by the highfalutin style of the newspapers that they read."

Depressing, how little our situation differs from theirs.

Much ado about nothing. If $arah got a brain implant...... now THAT would be noteworthy and helpful!

By Blogger Kurt, at Thu Jun 10, 02:24:00 PM:

Well, DEO, somehow she was smart enough to recognize that the difference between a mayor and a "community organizer" is that a mayor has ACTUAL responsibilities. The community organizer's response to problems should be evident in Obama's "kick ass" comment from the other day. Here we have oil leaking into the gulf for almost two months, and rather than trying to take responsibility for the cleanup or something, Obama only wants to point fingers and lay blame.

By Blogger JBlog, at Thu Jun 10, 02:31:00 PM:

Well they have to talk about something. After all, four female Republican candidates she endorsed in major races won their primaries this week.

Which, I'm sure, is driving the lefties out of what's left of their narrow, bigoted, hypocritical minds.

By Blogger kk, at Thu Jun 10, 02:31:00 PM:

I'm sorry, we're comparing a picture of her in a sports bra versus one of her in a normal bra of unknown push-upness and wondering why her boobs are bigger in the latter? The whole POINT of a sports bra is to squish and reduce your boobs so they don't bounce as much when you run, which is unpleasant. For the runner.

wv: scrota. not even joking.

By Blogger Unknown, at Thu Jun 10, 02:32:00 PM:

Obama was the first to receive a brain implant, along with integrity & ethics implants but his body rejected all three.

Yea and verily. A community organizer is a commissar, an agitator of class warfare, and not an executive nor a representative of all the people. Small wonder that his mind doesn't rise above looking for an "ass to kick", instead of organizing maximum support for the suppression of the oil leak.

By Blogger Mick, at Thu Jun 10, 02:43:00 PM:

If she did get 'enhanced' I'd say it's more of a good thing! And Victor you're a boob, without needing an implant. That is all.

By Blogger Eric, at Thu Jun 10, 02:46:00 PM:

This thread is useless without pics.

By Anonymous Lycidas, at Thu Jun 10, 02:47:00 PM:

I was going to make a comment very similar to KK.

I had a girlfriend with a large set, so to speak. And she was petite (5 2 or so). But at work, where we met, it was very difficult to tell that she was big or as big as she was. She wore bras to de-emphasize her chest. I suppose a very clever woman might have been able to guess the size, but I did not realize they were as large as they were (pre-further examination).

There is also a separate point to be made. While some women enhance for what one would say are purely cosmetic reasons (think today's playboy models), others do so for other reasons. Of course, those that have had masectomies have reconstructive surgery. But in addition many women who have had children, particularly multiple children, lose all their form to a much greater extent than might otherwise be justified by age. Implants for them are to return them to where they were, or might have been, which I think is a slightly different kettle of fish. To put it somewhat directly, suppose you've had five children and don't think you are as sexy to your husband as you once were because he loved your breasts, but now they are worse than a shadow of their former form, shape, and the like - perhaps even quite unattractive.

Since she seemed quite well shaped before, I'd guess that any surgery was for that reason. But who knows? Who cares? It's her private business.

About which a comment. Sometimes these privacy issues are fair game, but the problem with public focus is that (as the discussion above should hint) the true facts cannot come out because the public really wouldn't want to know (e.g., I did it because my husband liked my old breasts, before they sagged to the floor after 5 kids), which places the honest politician in a horrible position.

Finally, I'm wondering, since the Huff Post is interested, what Ms. Huffington might know on the subject...

As usual a well thought out tactic from the left (not!). In repsonse, I propose our bloggers run side by side photos of leftist and conservative women in politics. Palin alongside Pelosi; Haley alongside Hillary; Bachman alongside Boxer. As Instapundit says, the side with the best babes wins the populace, and our side has the babes with the brains in spades.

By Anonymous Mike Rulle, at Thu Jun 10, 02:48:00 PM:

I wish I had book marked it but I saw a photo of her at the same event in the same shirt but from a different angle and the effect just wasn't there.

She's got a good figure, no doubt. And she usually wears jackets instead of clingy t-shirts.

And yet, as several people have said... if she did, if she wanted to keep her mom-boobs or whatever, is it a negative thing?

Years ago, her breasts looked about this way.

I've noticed that Palin usually dresses in a professional way that doesn't really show off this aspect of her body. I think the most risque photo was that Runner's World article... but those outfits and sports bras flatten the chest. Palin's typical wool suit also minimizes the chest's angles.

So anyway, in case anyone was stupid enough to believe maybe Palin got implants, this is proof that her breasts were similar in appearance years ago when she was also wearing less conservative clothing.

Please use that link if you see people attacking Palin. It's really tiring when I read some 'expert' say maybe she got her lips implants and her chest implanted. That's Pelosi's style (they don't care about that, of course). They will do anything to degrade any conservative woman. I prefer Paul Ryan for Prez, but I'm sick of this kind of attack and happy it can be disproven.

I love Sarah Palin for the same reason Marty Feldman loved the word "blucher" in Young Frankenstein. One need only a mere mention of the word and you get a reaction out of the farm animals. Walk into any Starbucks and say "Sarah Palin" and watch the reaction, its exactly the same.

And yet, when you ask them why they hate her, they really dont have an answer. She is a complete and utter mystery to the people on the left but the mere mention of her existence sends them into a tizzy.

My theory is that she is an independent minded heterosexual woman with a brain who chooses not to live on either coast ( or in the lower 48 for that matter), which is anathema to everything they believe.

They sold their souls to feel pissy, confusing heartfelt concern with intelligence, inhabit coffee shops and carry ipods in a desire to measure up culturally to the cool kids.

She lives her life, rides snowmobiles, raises kids and carries a rifle now and then and doesnt give a damn one way or the other what you think about her or her breasts.

Oh, and just for the Marty Feldman fans out there:

"Blucher..."

By Blogger Sarah Palin's Uterus, at Thu Jun 10, 04:35:00 PM:

Oh great... another body part for Andrew Sullivan to fulminate over.

Any breast-having individual knows that breasts look different in different outfits, from different angles, and at different times of the lunar cycle. This is simply their nature.

It's what they *do*. How else are they supposed to keep your interest?

By Blogger Escort81, at Thu Jun 10, 04:44:00 PM:

Regardless of whether the former governor had elective surgery, I see this as progress: the discussion has become somewhat less offensive, as the body part in question is a bit further north from her uterus (Andrew Sullivan's orginal focus).

Based on the comments at the Huffpo link, is it conceivable that Palin now outstrips W in terms of intenstity of hatred from a certain segment of progressives?

I did appreciate Wonkette's joking honesty:

The only group of people who look at ladies’ boobs more than straight men are straight women. Experts say straight women spend up to 37% of their time evaluating the breasts of their friends, enemies, peers and total strangers, while the number triples (to 111%) for lesbians. What we mean is, women seem to keep very careful mental records about such things, taking into account a wide variety of factors such as pregnancy, wardrobe, diet, exercise regime, miraculous undergarments and, of course, the work of the cosmetic surgery professionals who keep America’s last alt-weekly newspapers as going business concerns.

I think Wonkette could add gay men to that list, espcially those in CA and FL, where they tend to be the worst Body Nazis, both with respect to their own circle of male friends and any famous women. "Demi Moore looked great in the last Charlie's Angels movie, and the $250K in work was really worth it, don't you think." These are guys who get calf implants, so, chacun a son gout.

FWIW, I happen to prefer playing on natural grass as compared to Astroturf, but what a women does with her own body is her concern. I would never have another date during my entire life if I stated otherwise.

By Blogger Ern, at Thu Jun 10, 04:59:00 PM:

I don't know what goes on in the minds of those who are concerned about Sarah Palin's breasts and whether she's had them enhanced, but my guess is that many of them are bothered by the fact that she's an extraordinarily attractive woman. Moreover, she would, I think, be an extraordinarily attractive woman even if she had been given, say, Hillary Clinton's physical attributes. A lot of her appeal is that she is comfortable with herself, she understands that she is a sexual being, and she likes being a sexual being and a woman. The fact that she likes being a woman means that she isn't forever complaining about how unfair life is to woman or about how men behave.

The average American woman would be a whole lot more attractive if she had the same psychology as Sarah Palin. It's not so much the physical gifts that she's been given; it's what she's done with them.

--Detects our weaknesses in mysterious ways unavailable to everybody else including Charles Krauthammer

The real list goes like this

(see next post...you know liberals always write too much, what with all the evidence and logic and stuff.)

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Sat Jun 12, 10:10:00 AM:

Items 1 and 2:

1. She's demonstrably, visibly stupid. In unscripted situations she routinely gets facts wrong, locks up, mumbles, and hides behind laughably shallow platitudes. Of course, wingnuts kind of enjoy discussing facts until they change, so to equate “stupid” with “wrong facts” is more challenging these days, but it does not hide her obvious deficiencies. Stupid people make bad leaders. The Republicans have a traditional claim on American power; they can expect to get elected fairly often, and that’s a good thing; balance of power and governing and so on (a quaint concept in which both sides of the polity accept responsibility for the long term health of the nation.) Putting Sarah Palin in a position where she might become President of the United States was grotesquely irresponsible. Compared to Sarah Palin, Dan Quayle was an excellent candidate. Quayle vs. Palin? I'd knock on doors for Danny. In Anchorage. In March.

2. She avoids unscripted situations, which suggests some political savvy, that is, she knows she's visibly stupid and so avoids displaying it for all to see. Only problem is the presidency is pretty unscripted. The expected role of a politician, or a political figure, is unscripted. Barack Obama uses a teleprompter in ceremonial situations, just like every president ever has since the thing was invented--but he does not avoid unscripted situations; in fact, he thrives in them. So did EVERY OTHER PRESIDENT EVER with the possible exception of Warren Harding and Wilson after the stroke. And maybe Nixon after the felonies. Even FDR was happy to chat and joke and improvise, provided his wheelchair was out of sight. But Palin will not be interviewed, and the wingnuts happily cooperate. You’d rather have your muppet and take a chance on the outcome than admit that she’s a posturing, inarticulate twit. Muppets make bad presidents.

see 3 and 4 next!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Sat Jun 12, 10:11:00 AM:

Items 3, 4, and 5!

3. She has managed to avoid responsibility for extremely poor service as governor of Alaska. Only a wingnut could foul up so badly, get caught and hammered at ethical violations by a republican legislature, jet off to run for VP, then quit halfway through her term and still be considered a political force. We confess to some jealousy. Clinton got impeached for adultery, by adulterers, courtesy of an investigation of an Arkansas land deal. Huh? Extremely effective medical doctor full-term governor Howard Dean, who is smart in case you don't know what smart looks like in a white person, was chased off the campaign for the way he cheered. Damn that wingnut teflon. Damn it. Democrats have serious trouble avoiding scandals that are transparently false; Palin can be the worst governor on the map in plain sight and people love her and want her to be their president. That's bad and dangerous.

4. Barack Obama wrote a book with his own actual mind and hands, and wingnuts accused him of a terrible crime: having someone else write the book. Sarah Palin admits that other people wrote her book, and people love her for it. It's so full of errors and typos and mistakes and stupidities that it enrages us to think people buy it and read it and like her more. It's simultaneous proof that she's stupid and bad at getting things done...except people like the book even though it is crap and full of lies. Huh? Charles Wooden Legs--Oh Sarah write another book full of things that never happened and quotes you never read much less understand and ideas you never had. Because the first one changed my life! Man I hate that, less because Palin pushes buttons, more because the right thinks it's just fine that their big idea and best contribution to governing this country since 1989 is strategic, generational, multifaceted, six-dimension stupidity. Excite the worst fears of the ignorant. Impeach expertise, revise history, rename your opponent, glorify violence, attack clarity, disdain journalism, insult education. Repeat if necessary, repeat repeat repeat. This comment thread is a lovely example: say it over and over again, leftists are stupid, leftists are stupid, and soon not only do you accept it as fact, you can’t remember anything else, much less the time last week when you repeated a bunch of times that leftists think they’re so smart, and Harvard big deal, so what everybody knows Barack Obama is stupid despite those SAT scores and Hey, look over there, shiny birth certificate! This is the way you'll lead...again? We need this again? Any fact can be discredited, any argument ignored. Palin is the celebrity sponsor of this movement’s newest, most viciously ignorant generation, and she is hurting America, and you’re helping. That’s worth a little hatred.

5. Palin is the right’s leading hypocrite for bad education. It's separate from her stupidity, because the antidote for stupidity is education. Because he is barely literate and poorly educated but you love her, you have to defend and elevate poor literacy and mediocre education. That's the way the right works: what we did is the right thing, therefore we redefine the right thing as what we did. QED. If Palin had run away to join the circus, you folks would be deploying all manner of dazzling logic to demonstrate why it's best for young Americans to join the circus and why liberals hate America because they are making it harder for earnest, dedicated young circus-joiners. But you'll still send your kids to the local Jesus college, of course, and get them a deferment when the next wingnut congress makes circus-joining compulsory. Meanwhile the Indians and the Brazilians and the Chinese are educating their children thoroughly. And you deride Barack Obama for his education, even as you are jealous of it. And you still have political influence in this country. I hate that, which is why I work to end it.

QED, mofos.

Your golden calf is both inexperienced and incompetent, provoking more in the way of pity and disgust than envy. "Thriving" without his teleprompter? The folks who repeatedly threw you on your head when you were a child should be jailed. The thing that really galls you about Palin is that she accomplishes things (in regards to government dealings with oil and gas companies, for example - how's similar working for your Community Organizer-In-Chief?), whereas Obama fills suckers like you with hope as he casually tosses you over his shoulder like a used rubber. When you dig up Obama's SAT scores, his grades, actual evidence of him actually running anything successfully/solving any sort of non-trivial problem, etc., please do share it with us. Likewise after you've visited all 57 states, met with a "corpse-man", or generally determined "whose ass to kick" in lieu of solving a problem worth solving. Until then, your unsubstantiated, overwrought polemic is solid evidence of the very Lefty stupidity you feebly claim is contrived. QED, jagov.

What did half-term Gov. Palin accomplish? Running as Governor on the platform to Build the Bridge to Nowhere (go ahead google it)? Not abandoning Ted Stevens? Allowing wolves to be hunted from the air? Awarding the SOLE bidder a license to build the pipeline? Getting her first passport in 2006? Do tell.

And while you are at it because you seem to think there's a correlation between grades/SAT scores and performance as a politician, how did Miss Wasilla do on the SATs? Where are her grades? Did she graduate magna cum laude? From Harvard? From any of the FOUR colleges she attended in FIVE years?

What's your point Anon at 4:48? Obama should have released his SAT scores/grades when he ran for office but Miss Wasilla shouldn't have to? Because???? Because she "accomplishes things"? Because she's white? Because she has a good rack? Do tell.

Boob-Gate is interesting in a serious way because a lot of false stories about Palin's personal life have gotten MSM traction before. Here's yet another example. Fans of Sarah pumped this one up too -- because it was entertaining. But it's got some relevance.

When she first got named the VP candidate, MSM dug into Palin more in a week than they dug into Obama during the whole campaign. They broke the two-headed love-child story within days.

I'm not a birther -- but I think we should have known if Obama took nothing but leftist courses at Columbia and lots of "Crtitical Legal Studies" courses at Harvard Law. I bet it's true -- and quite revealing about what he's up to now. It's not the grades -- it's about the balance in his education. We already know a lot more about Elena Kagan's back story.

Obama may or not have been corrupted by Tony Rezko -- but he was certainly on Rezko's farm team. MSM gave Obama a pass during the campaign. I don't expect Obama to get tied to the current Blago trial -- but you never know.

Obama was involved in the Annennberg educational challenge, and Rezko's failed government-backed slum project. He should have learned a lesson about pissing away public money -- but he obviously didn't. This is not irrelevant to today. Once again MSM gave him a pass.

****
Sarah Palin is a real political force -- and will be even if she never runs for anything ever again. She's a king maker -- as she's just proven in the recent primaries -- a softer counter to Rush Limbaugh, and a better money-raising machine than the DNC. Not bad for the former mayor of Wasilla.

My point is that Obama is clueless, incompetent, and inept - all pedigree and zero accomplishment (well, save for snowing increasingly unhinged suckers like you and ice9 back in long ago Autumn of 2008). The fact that his grades and overall history have been hidden yet his pedigree stressed tell me that the fix is in. Look at the man recently, so out his depth that it would normally inspire pity were it not for the accompanying nausea his mega-foppery brings on. This oil spill is where the unsinkable HMS Community Organizer (who was gonna stay the rising oceans, remember?) got sliced open from end to end by the iceberg of reality. As the 'Chief Executive', the man has to bring the the resources to bear to get that $#@&er plugged and instead he pathetically feigns anger to keep confused Lefty's like you shaking your pom-poms. Sarah Palin, on the other hand, has actually run things, has actually negotiated contracts (natural gas pipeline, etc.), dealt with zoning issues, figured out budgets (it's not clear Obama can count), and run a business. As Ignoramus so lucidly puts it above, Obama has forever specialized in pissing away other folks' money. Simply put, you and others continually tout Obama's pedigree (magna cum laude in fingerpainting, for all we know) when faced with his hard to ignore inexperience and incompetence while ignoring Palin's myriad accomplishments (yeah, yeah, 'Bridge to Nowhere' - maybe you can come up with rhyming chant that includes that to be sung while carrying ridiculous paper mache puppets ...) at the executive level and instead focusing on her largely irrelevant at this point pedigree. Sarah Palin exists in a state of "doing", whereas your golden calf is in a state of "being". That gushing oil well doesn't care that your assclown in Chief got wet-nursed through Harvard. Oh, and I'm still waiting on these:

When you dig up Obama's SAT scores, his grades, actual evidence of him actually running anything successfully/solving any sort of non-trivial problem, etc., please do share it with us ...

It is interesting that you feel the need to compare a Presidential candidate and President with a Vice Presidential Candidate.

For the record, the college grades of the following white (Your word) Presidential candidates are public record: Al Gore, John Kerry, GW Bush, John McCain. The SAT scores of the following white (Your word) Presidential candidates are public record: GW Bush, Al Gore. While to the best of my knowledge John Kerry's SAT scores have not been released, his Armed Forces scores on various tests are available, and have been compared to GW Bush's scores.

To the best of my knowledge, the above Presidential candidates did not have "a good rack."

Ok, if a guy wants a menage-a-trois with both Sarah Palin and Michelle Obama, does that make him a conservative or a liberal?

We can all stare at Palin's implants as she runs the country into the toilet... woo-hoo!

Maybe she should visit a brain surgeon instead of a plastic surgeon. Might be more useful.

As a middle aged woman, aged 48, with a (ahem) "respectable rack", and 2 lovely children, I have to weigh in. I am post menopausal, (yes, it's early) and since I began "not menstruating", "the girls" have been growing larger and larger! All my adult life, except for pregnancy and breastfeeding, I have been a "d". "The girls" have now returned to their breastfeeding glory - a "g"! I think I've put on 10 pounds just in breast tissue. It's a bit disconcerting, but my husband is thrilled! I guess a medical expert could explain why hormones change the breasts, but all I know is that they changed, all on their own. Mind your own business, everyone!
