A walk in the Virginia woods

I was in Buckingham County, Virginia for Thanksgiving with my brother and sister and their families. Today we took a walk over hill and dale, and I snapped some pics.

I find it impossible to view photos like these of beautiful East Coast scenes, without the reputed bugs, without admiration and longing to experience same.

Years ago when I traveled a bit in the east, I was enchanted.

M.E., I think Virginia is the most beautiful state in the country east of the Rockies, both naturally and as man hath wrought it, from mountains to beautiful farms to beaches to woodland meadows.

Being a transplanted "come here Yankee" in Richmond, I'll second that. The drive up Rt 17 thru Winchester is flat out gorgeous.

You can tell it's deer season...everybody has their blaze orange on.

Some people say Buckingham is "God's Country".

Do you claim THE Pocahontas as one of your ancestors? The earliest traced ancestor in my family born in America was a Katherine Morris, born about 1640 in New Kent County, VA.
