Class warfare watch: Who is "rich"and who is "modest"?

According to Barack Obama, the difference between "rich" and having a "relatively modest" salary is $78,000. Or $28,000, if you're single.

Actually if you use the same accounting "tricks" that USA Today did when they came out with their "Average Federal Salary" (counting both sides of social security payments, health insurance, Federal retirement, 401k matching, Washington Locality Pay , travel/commuting allowances, etc...), I would be willing to bet cash that the employee you reference tops out at well over 200k.

And if his spouse is employed....wonder if Obama was aware that one of those "evil rich people" was quite so close to him.

Perhaps I'm confused -- I thought the Obama line was about a married couple making $250,000.

In that case, Mr. Gibbs is well over earning his half of the magic number.

Well, it certainly is good to see we are finally honing in on figuring out what the President believes, after two years of his near constant speachifying.
