Japan: The hits just keep coming

Just when you're thinking Japan has taken all nature can dish out, a volcano erupts. And if you do not yet appreciate the scale of the destruction, check out these "before and after" satellite pictures of coastal Japan. All of which makes it in very poor taste for me to remember the National Lampoon's Sunday Newspaper parody from, oh, 30 or so years ago.

"Japan destroyed"

Egads.

Quite the memory you have, TH....

The satellite pictures are astounding.

Recently, some friends were watching the now old film titled "Dreams" by famed Japanese director Akira Kurosawa.

The end bit is a nightmarish piece about a massive earthquake which releases chaos via the nuclear industry which in the film has an admission they cheated on the security measures.

The Film bit is ironic, but it is also terribly over the top. I will wager, Japan will survive this, and do so with great strength. Most of the reporting, like Katrina, is most likely way over the top - highly sensational.

It is tragic, already donated to the Red Cross, hoping to do more. But one simply can no longer trust the media - all thoughts and prayers to the land of the rising sun.

That National Lampoon is too close to the truth - I was doing google news yesterday and saw a lot of "our local people over there" news.
