The NFL has mercy on the country

There will be a football season.

Thank freaking God. What with the debt gridlock, lectures on fiscal probity from the Chinese, the housing slump, permanent unemployment, the war on business, the Euro crisis, the sorry Republican presidential field, and the unreconstructed Vulcan we have in the White House, the country really needs to have a football season.

I've said it before: our sports leagues will hold us together as a nation.

Yeah, but something tells me this is like the old GM deals which proved detrimental to the product and the production.

Pro-Football has been sinking into a jump ball game based on speed and flags. The once great game had to change, but now the Players have so much power, mixed with the hype, the Media, the often less than stellar play, the hubris FARVES, etc., is all creating a less then genuine product.

I sense problems, and remember the Hockey game nearly crumbling having created a bubble. Sure, they will say it cannot happen to the NFL, but then again, only in the 1970's they said it couldn't possibly happen to GM.

On another note, I think the GOP field is actually going to be fine...

I for one, would like to take this moment to thank President Obama, for not stepping in to help with this negotiation.

I gave up on Pro football when the Colts pulled out of Baltimore. I gave up on college football when Princeton dropped the single wing.
