Phone camera dump: A few pictures from Charleston

I spent last weekend in Charleston (SC) and thereabouts with friends, cycling, eating, and walking around. There are a few stray pictures in my phone that you might, or might not, enjoy.

How do you transport your bike to these destinations? Or do you rent on-scene?

Ah, Simon, great question. I ride a Litespeed Classic at home, and generally transport that to any destination within driving distance (the Adirondacks, Virginia, etc.). I keep an inexpensive yet quite functional Schwinn Fastback at my girl friend's house in Austin, so I ride that there. My friend in Charleston has a disturbingly large number of excellent bikes to ride, and I use one of those when I am there.

Hey TH, can we institute the "Elvis" rule whenever you are posing for a bike picture (only shots from the waist up)? I had just eaten lunch and I had an unexpected trampoline effect upon viewing you in your bike shorts:))

BTW - will be in the Princeton area the week of the 22nd will you be around?

TH: I too had wondered about how you managed to be pictured on such a good bike so far from your home base. A less risque version of "friend with benefits". Great biking top too - off the rack or special order?

I should have given you directions to the graves of our ancestors, in a drainage from an air force base that runs through a patch of woods between an elementary school and a subdivision in North Charleston. Elizabeth Davidson Bethune's family, Willimans, etc.

Love the photos!
I'll trade you my new Kindle for your frequent-flyer miles.

TigerRedRaider, the bike shirt is off the rack at Halter's on Route 1, the best bike shop in the area for my money (and I live less than 100 yards from Kopps...). QC, I will be around on the 22nd.

Mrs Kenton was for a while the masters woman roadie champion for our state, and with sponsorships accumulated some pretty cool stuff, as well as some pretty expensive tastes. Of all of it the one I envy - with the nasty black corrosive envy of which spiritual masters of all persuasions except the Choprakian warn us - is her Litespeed mountain bike.

If you ever consider mountain biking in Moab, with gf or not, Mrs Kenton and I make pretty good guides.

The Citadel is also a great visit if you have not already been there. . .
